EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) is a scientifically proven treatment method for partner and relationship problems. For example, when the connection between partners is fragile. Or when partners have grown apart.
Within EFT, the feelings of two partners take center stage. The goal is for you to better deal with underlying emotions. But also that your needs are made clear. Eventually, this will bring you closer together again.
The basics of EFT
Emotionally Focused Therapy is based on a number of principles (source eft.co.uk):
- No one is made to be alone.
- In the safe presence of a loved one, you can handle more.
- Every person feels good within a safe and connected relationship.
- It is a science-based therapy to bring partners back together.
Why does it help you?
With EFT, you learn to better recognize and understand emotions and feelings. Emotions of yourself and each other. For example, you learn to seek comfort and understanding from each other. But also to allow and express emotions. In this way, you will form a new foundation to take up the thread together.
You also explore and break through unfruitful interaction patterns in the relationship. This happens in several stages. In the final stage, you work toward a solution so that you do not fall into old patterns. However, it is important that both partners open up and really want to improve the relationship.
