What do we regulate in a divorce?

After 8 weeks, documents are filed with the court. For this, we pay court fees. It may take two to three months to process. Next comes an order from the court. It will be recorded in the records of civil status at the municipality after the lawyer passes it on. Only when this is done will we release you. There are no waiting lists, you can still come this week for the no-obligation introduction.

What is the purpose of mediation in

With mediation, you invest directly in your current and future relationship with your ex-partner and parenthood. And that gives less tension, more peace and more happiness. In doing so, you consider the risks and thus save on unforeseen additional (future) costs. Mediation at Practice Love provides structure and overview, resulting in space for dialogue and being able to process emotions. We do this with a completely unburdening approach, where everything is taken care of within a few sessions. The most important thing is that you can move on without unnecessary additional stress, chaos and worry.

What do we do during mediation in

is an independent and impartial third party who will work with you to ensure a proper divorce settlement. In doing so, the mediator looks after the interests of both partners and any children. This is in contrast to a divorce lawyer, who only represents the interests of one party. Our goal is for you to come out of the divorce financially and emotionally fit. We do not see divorce as a competition, but as a form of cooperation where the outcome is good for both partners. So that you separate from each other and face the future together in good parenting.

We offer a hassle-free effective process so you can get out faster, more peacefully and without additional worries or unforeseen costs. The more calm and relaxed the divorce is, the more future there is for good parenting. We take you by the hand through the divorce process. It takes a few conversations to map everything out. All the legal and administrative hassles are taken out of your hands. We then go to work behind the scenes to work everything out and complete it legally. That way, you can start a new path, without worries, and leave a turbulent period behind you.

Frequently asked questions about mediation in

The goal of mediation is to come out of the divorce financially, emotionally and fitfully. That you can remain in control, within reason and legal obligations. In doing so, we keep the pace you like.

Mediation provides space for alignment and dialogue. This may be different from settling with a lawyer. With us, you will find a middle ground together. We do not see divorce as a competition, but as a form of cooperation where the outcome is good for both partners. So that you separate from each other and face the future together in good parenting.

A divorce lawyer is not a mediator, but represents the interests of one of the partners during the divorce process. Communication between ex-partners is between both lawyers, partners do not see or speak to each other. This construction works well when, for example, there is a lot of resentment and the conversation really fails.

A mediator represents both interests, of both parties. The mediator’s work consists of two parts: crystallizing and bringing together the concerns and needs of both partners, as well as the legal formal settlement.

The mediator also handles the formal side of the divorce. Such as wealth distribution based on the marital regime, but then also pension distribution. Next, the mediator makes an alimony calculation of both spousal and child support. All this will be in a covenant, after which the parenting plan will be drawn up (if there are children).

Because Melissa has a legal background, she will help you settle the business side, such as the alimony calculation. But also in drafting a divorce covenant and (new) parenting plan. Or very practically, the arrangements you have to make for vacations. All in a way that both of you can support and feel positive about.

Often partners think less carefully about the future. For example, pensions need to be divided, or there is still a survivor’s pension. What do we do with that? Or ex-partners think: the parenting plan is just for now. But when children enter high school, the regular division of care changes. Then the plan must be modified. In principle, parents can arrange this among themselves. Nibud has handy practical tips for this.

We usually start with a no-obligation introduction to feel the space to ask questions, and to see if there is that all-important “click” with the therapist. We strive to ensure that you can meet with one of our mediators within 1 week.
