Every person needs independence on the one hand and connection on the other. Usually people come to couples therapy when these needs are compromised in the relationship. For example, a deletion has occurred, it is difficult to connect or there are conflicts. Asking for help is a powerful decision. Our conversations are in line with your concerns, requests for help and wishes for change. In the sessions we work on the question “Can we understand why things are the way they are?”. We examine the pattern in which you communicate and interact with each other. Which factors influence? I believe that as human beings we are shaped by our genes, what we have learned in our family of origin, important life events and the stage of life we are in. We discuss what your strengths are and what obstacles play a role in your impasse. This helps to increase understanding for each other and let love bloom again.
Background
I am originally a psychologist, graduated from the University of Utrecht in Clinical Psychology. I have worked in addiction care for over 15 years, working with both clients and their family members. In 2018 I started the Intensive System Therapy Training at the Lorentzhuis in Haarlem. My passion lies in partner relationship therapy. In addition to curiosity and multiple partiality, humor is an important ingredient in therapy for me.
