Your relationship in an uncertain period

Tragedy in optima forma: we are still living in shaky times because of covid. Tragic, that fresh headwind that blew so briskly this spring. He was a little less mean after that, but is now back in full force. And we were just trying to blow along.

Uncertain times take a toll on relationships. Because of doubt, low perspective and just not knowing. All of a sudden, it turns out that you handle this very differently from your partner. Some just can’t let go of the tension, while others carry on unruffled. And what the next few months will look like, we don’t know yet. Some people are once again experiencing the uncertainty of having or not having a job, many are once again condemned to work from home. Sometimes in too small spaces and the partner as colleague instead of sweet.

The effect of corona on relationships in figures

The NVRG website has a nice overview of the effects of corona on families and relationships. Because that effect is clear, there are more tensions and conflicts within families. On the national site of EFT therapists, we read that 75% of therapists surveyed see an increase in relationship problems and/or domestic violence. Okay, stress and worry are on the rise, but in another poll by The National Advice Desk, 19% of partners surveyed said they want to persevere and persevere in their relationship despite increased stress. Funny, you can see the tragedy in this, but also the hope and wanting to wait for something better.

How do you deal with prolonged tragedy?

Do you manage to move with the situation? To resign while holding on to hope? Perhaps now we have no choice but to accept the situation. But also trying not to sink into negative feelings and despair. Tragedy may be there, in our homes, in the tiny workplaces, but we keep control of how we deal with it. And how we do that is different for everyone. These differences are allowed to exist, and once that is okay for you, then the lightheartedness returns.
