Ardash Nelson, relationship therapist Amsterdam Center

Relationships are valuable environments in which both individuals and partners have the opportunity to grow. Interaction with the other creates the opportunity not only to get to know the other better, but also to grow and develop yourself. At such times, maintaining a strong connection in a relationship can be challenging because it is not always possible to meet each other’s needs and expectations. Relationship therapy is then a valuable and safe place to further explore and restore the love for each other where and when needed.

During the sessions, we take a holistic approach where we look at the entire system. We explore not only the dynamics between you and your partner, but also how other factors in your environment affect your relationship. Together we look at your background and how you got where you are, and what role love, attention and security play in that. By understanding this broader context, we can gain deeper insight into the patterns and dynamics affecting your relationship. On this basis,
we develop targeted interventions and strategies to strengthen and grow your relationship.

Background

As a cultural psychologist, I have a great curiosity about the stratification of the human psyche, the complexity of relationships and interconnection. Mapping out the role that culture plays in our relationships, and rewriting this script together is what I love most. Honesty and humor are at my core. I am aware of the different forms a relationships and families can take and am concerned with the influence of culture on the relationship and sexuality of multicultural couples.
