Pauline van der Schoot, couples therapist Amsterdam

When things are going well in love, we seem to have wings. You can take on the world, you feel understood and accepted. There is the space to be yourself and to develop yourself. When there is a strong connection, things seem to come naturally because of the support and security you receive from your partner.

Sometimes, however, we encounter challenges that shake this connection. Patterns have emerged that produce negative consequences. Together we go back to basics. Who are you as individuals and who are you as a couple? From genuine interest, I ask the critical questions that will challenge to get to the heart of the matter together. What beauty is already in the relationship and how can you draw strength from it precisely during more difficult times?

I will listen without judgment and am genuinely interested, creating a warm and safe atmosphere during the sessions. What challenges you now may actually be the key to a deeper connection and how to improve the love and communication between the two of you. I also give you the tools that will ensure that you can continue to improve the connection and communication between you even after the sessions, enabling sustainable growth and recovery.

Background:

In addition to my studies as an Applied Psychologist where understanding and positively influencing behavior was central, I gained experience in practice as a family coach. In doing so, I coached families from a systems approach with refugee backgrounds with a variety of help issues.
