Being single: when it gets in your way

Do you often feel lonely as a single person? Do you find it difficult to start or maintain a relationship? Or do you find yourself falling into the same patterns over and over again? When being single gets in your way, therapy offers you the opportunity to look deeper into yourself and gain more insight into why certain negative patterns keep recurring and how to break them.

Our starting point is systemic therapy, an evidence-based approach that has been proven effective. We are the only practice in the Netherlands with such a strong specialization in systemic therapy. You can come to us directly, without a waiting list. You can attend sessions during the day or in the evening.

Being single can present unique needs and challenges. Single life can sometimes be accompanied by feelings of loneliness or a deep desire for a relationship. We are here to support you with the questions and concerns you experience as a single person and guide you in exploring and realizing your personal desires.

More than single: growth, self-knowledge and resilience

Being single can offer beautiful freedoms, but sometimes it also brings challenges, especially when being alone no longer feels so “happy. Singles therapy offers targeted support when being single makes you feel gloomy, hindered, or affects your self-esteem. This therapy is also for those who want to get to know themselves better and discover what is really important in relationships and personal growth.

Our therapists guide you in understanding the underlying causes of your feelings, such as loneliness, insecurity, or being stuck in certain patterns. By working together, you gain insight into how your current situations affect your well-being. We help you discover where your needs and desires lie, so you can move forward with more confidence and resilience.

Whether dealing with loneliness, breaking negative patterns, increasing your self-knowledge and self-confidence, or learning to cope with changing relationships around you-singles therapy provides a safe and supportive space. Here you are given the opportunity to grow, become more firmly grounded and develop a deeper sense of self-worth and contentment.

Goal of counseling

The purpose of counseling is to give you insight into your relationship patterns, with which we start a process of change that helps you to be fully yourself. We use a systemic approach, looking not only at you, but also at the influence of your environment, such as your family and close friends. This systemic therapy is evidence-based; research shows that this method is effective in promoting personal growth and breaking ingrained patterns.

Hoe gaan we te werk?

After an intake interview, we start counseling. In this intake, it is important to create a mutual “click” so that you feel safe and at ease to openly share your story, thoughts and emotions with the therapist. During the conversation, we take the time to explore your situation, background and expectations. Based on this, we focus follow-up sessions on a few key themes:

  • The request for help: What do you want to achieve? What problems or challenges do you want to address?
  • Patterns: Together we explore patterns in your behavior, thoughts and emotions that may be playing a role in your current situation.
  • Goals: We set concrete and achievable goals that will help you move forward to achieve change.
  • Change desires: We look at specific changes you would like to see, both in yourself and in your relationship with others.

Once we have properly identified your questions, needs and expectations during the intake, we will create a treatment plan for a series of five to eight sessions of 65 minutes each. In these sessions, we work in a focused manner on the themes and goals discussed, allowing for both insight and the application of practical tools.

Each session offers a combination of self-reflection, deep insight into your personal challenges, and practical techniques you can use to positively impact your daily life and relationships. Our approach is flexible and tailored to what works for you; we regularly evaluate whether the approach still meets your needs.

Contact

We recommend starting with a comprehensive intake. In this conversation we get a complete picture of your request for help and specific needs, and you can experience whether there is a good click with the therapist. This allows us to tailor the counseling exactly to your goals and expectations. This intake is a valuable first step towards an in-depth, personal approach.

Prefer to meet first and get an impression of our way of working? Then we offer a 20 minute introductory talk. At Praktijk de Liefde we ask a fee for the introductory talk, so that we can start from the beginning with attention and quality.
