Sex therapy at Practice Love: Being able to be intimate without blockage

Together, we address blockages that can get in the way of intimacy.

Within a relationship, sexual blockages can occur. Perhaps you notice that you can no longer enjoy your partner's touches. And that something stops you from surrendering completely to your partner. That you simultaneously consider your own needs and those of your partner.

Sexology helps to find out where the blockages lie and more importantly, how to overcome them. Sometimes uncertainty plays a role or not knowing what you like. Sex is a subject that can bring shame. We will help you break this taboo.

Why sexology?

Often this subject is difficult to discuss. To facilitate this, it may help to consult with a sex therapist. During conversations, it becomes clear why a particular blockage is there and how it can be removed. How both partners can become closer again with self-confidence, and how to open up to each other again. Literally and figuratively. In addition, sexology helps identify and address sexual dysfunctions that can cause tension in a relationship. It promotes open communication between partners, which can contribute to greater understanding and intimacy. This can lay a foundation for a stronger and healthier relationship, where both partners feel understood, respected and loved.

Sexology is therefore not only important for creating and maintaining a healthy relationship, but it also promotes the well-being of the individual. It offers people the tools to understand and embrace their sexuality, which can contribute to better self-esteem and confidence. So, while it may be uncomfortable to talk about these issues, seeking help from a sex therapist can ultimately lead to a healthier and more fulfilling relationship, and a happier individual.

Method of working sexology

To begin, we schedule an introductory meeting with one of our sexologists. This conversation is purely to sense if there is a click. We then schedule several 75-minute sessions. During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to put down everything you are struggling with to the sex therapist. She will direct the conversations and work with you to get to the heart of the help issue. What goes well and what goes less well? In what do you have something to gain and what suits you best? The sex therapist on our team will look at your needs with you.

What can sexology help with?

  1. Sexual dysfunctions:
This can range from erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation in men to vaginismus (pain during penetration) and problems with sexual desire in women.
  2. Problems with sexual desire:
This may be due to low libido, differences in sexual desire between partners, or changes in sexual desire due to life changes such as pregnancy, menopause or illness.
  3. Sexual abuse or trauma:
Sexologists can provide support for people who have experienced sexual abuse or trauma and help them process these experiences.
  4. Sexual orientation and gender identity (LGBTQIA+):
Sexologists can provide support and guidance to people who have questions about their sexual orientation or struggle with their gender identity.
  5. Sexual communication:
Sexologists can help couples communicate more effectively about their sexual desires and boundaries, which can lead to greater mutual understanding and satisfaction.

6. Sexual education:
Sexologists can guide parents and caregivers on how to talk to their children about sexuality and sexual health.

7. Sex and chronic illness or disability:
Sexologists can help people with chronic illnesses or disabilities and their partners adjust and improve their sex lives.

8. Sex addiction:
For people struggling with sex addiction, sex therapists can offer tools and strategies to regain control of their behavior.

9. Polyamory and non-monogamous relationships:
Sexologists can counsel individuals or couples exploring polyamorous or non-monogamous relationships. They offer help in managing complex dynamics, such as jealousy, setting boundaries, and maintaining effective communication.
