If contact with your ex and his or her family is difficult, it is helpful to discuss this with each other. Honesty is important, keep it open. Children often bond with relatives that you, the ex-partner, may no longer speak to (intensively). Let’s say that your son or daughter’s feelings come first. In her advice, Joey describes what is essential for parents to then radiate to the child.
The therapists at Praktijk de Liefde like to think through what children need, how to support your child and how to engage with son or daughter during a divorce.
During family therapy, we explore whether we can reconnect, even if you decide to go your separate ways as partners. Family therapy then helps to part ways in a respectful way.
But we also look at the question: how do you deal with your own needs in this process and those of other family members, of your children? What are the individual wishes you bring? With these questions, we explore the different desires. How do we bring them together, despite any distance between you as ex-partners?
Is contact in your family or relatives difficult and awkward and do you want to see it differently, even if you are ex-partners? Our therapists support you in this process. Ask your questions or make an appointment to meet here.
Do you recognise yourself in this article? Our therapists are ready to help you. Schedule a no-obligation introductory session.
