Christmas just around the corner: a wonderful atmosphere, but also high expectations. Because in addition to celebrating, we often experience stress around these days. Issues such as “who do we celebrate with, where and when? But division of labor and brooding feelings can also get in the way.
Because sometimes there are tensions, for example in relation to the in-laws. All sorts of things come into play then, but we don’t want to let that shine through when we sit at the table. How can you approach this moment together conveniently and pleasantly?
If this is alive in (one of) you within the relationship, it can bring upfront tension. If you feel this ahead of time, talk about it together. That way, at least there will be movement between you. And by sharing your concerns, you become each other’s allies during these days. You do it together and that creates (new) connection between you and your partner.
So it can help to think in advance about how you will enter the holidays. Discuss it and temper expectations. Also see if you can keep them real. This creates openness and understanding. Good luck and have fun! And of course relaxing, loving holidays wished.
